Xiaomi has finally launched its new flagship smartphone that is Mi 9 in China. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is the successor of earlier launched Mi 8 and it comes with more improved features. However, in China, the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 2,999 (approx Rs 32,000). While its high-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 3,299 (approx Rs 35,000). Before going to its top features first let’s see the key specifications of Mi 9.

1. Display

The Xiaomi Mi 9 flaunts with a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED 19.5:9 aspect ratio display. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (403 PPI density) with the latest screen protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and 600 nits of brightness. The impressive thing is it has a 90.7% screen-to-body with HDR10-compliant display.

2. Flagship Chipset

The Xiaomi Mi 9 is the company’s first smartphone to be powered by a latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (7nm) Octa-core Processor. Undoubtedly this chipset will provide a high-end performance in gaming up to 20 percent and boosts up to 45 percent performance in fast multitasking. Under that, the phone is boosted with Adreno 640 GPU.

3. Triple Rear Camera (Company’s First phone)

Surprisingly Mi 9 is the Xiaomi’s first device to feature a triple rear camera setup. It has a 48MP+16MP+12MP camera sensors with dual-LED flash. The main camera of the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor comes with an f/1.8 aperture, the secondary 16MP Sony IMX481 sensor features an f/2.2 aperture for an ultrawide shooter and the last 12MP telephoto camera sensor features f/2.2 aperture. Overall the Mi 9 comes with high-end camera capabilities.

4. Fast Wireless Charging

The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with both wired and wireless fast charging. However, the wired cable comes with a 27W turbocharging that charges phone up to 70% at just half-an-hour. While the Mi 9 is the world’s first smartphone to support a 20W wireless flash charging. However, the device is packed with the Non-removable Li-Po battery of 3400mAh.

5. Fifth-gen In-display Fingerprint Sensor

The Mi 9 comes with a Fifth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor that unlocks phone up to 25 percent faster than any other device. While the Mi 9 has powered with the fastest fingerprint scanner ever. The placement position of the sensor is well optimized and unlocks the device under the strong light and dry fingers.

6. Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10

The Mi 9 comes with an operating system of the latest version of Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. On the top, it comes with customization of MIUI 10. The Xiaomi-based MIUI comes with features such as new system icons, navigation gestures, Android Pie-based sliders of volume and brightness. The Xiaomi has also added the Dark mode feature in Mi 9.

7. Build Quality and Design

The Mi 9 comes with very impressive build quality. The back panel of the device is made of glass that is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 and it comes with an aluminum frame. On the front of the screen comes with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

Coming to its design the phones run on the water-drop notch style display and it has a 40 percent thinner chin compared to the previously launched Mi 8. At back, it comes with a triple camera that is set up vertically. The Mi 9 comes with three different color options of Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue, and Piano Black.

While the Xiaomi has officially launched the Mi 9 in China. There is no information on when the smartphone will be launched in another country.
